Close up Magician Eric Marcotte

Eric Marcotte is a creative magician who specializes in close-up magic and has been performing for over 13 years. His “out of the box” view of the art has allowed him to become a creative consultant for television networks such as TFO, TVO, YTV and National Geographic Channel.

At the age of 16, Eric co-founded a stage magic and illusion group called Evollusions and performed nearly 500 shows over 5 years across many regions of Ontario and Québec. To this day, Evollusions holds the record for the most shows performed in a school year through the agency Reseau Ontario, with the total of 140 shows!

Eric has two passions in life: magic and teaching. The catch is that the number one rule of magic is to never reveal the secret. Eric’s unique way of presenting magic and illusions gives the spectators a refreshing look into this unknown art. He teaches magic with the City of Ottawa year-round, and has recently been performing for restaurants, corporate and family events. Currently attending the University of Ottawa in the Teacher Education program, Eric’s plan is to continue mixing both of his passions into his everyday life.

Erics’ shows are bilingual and adaptable to all ages and events. He performs magic including seemingly impossible card tricks, Matrix style metal bending, mind-boggling mentalism, and visual kids magic. Book now and let Eric teach you what kind of effect magic can have on your event!

Josh Williams

Josh was born funny, but needed to frustrate coworkers in several different fields before realizing his dream of becoming a stand-up comic. After getting fired from 5-Star hotels, big name retail stores, restaurants, corporate telecommunications, and even as an electrician, he knew it was time to take the stage…

In late 2008, he performed his first stand-up set, at an open mic, in front of 50 people in a leaky campus basement. Despite the conditions, the show was fantastic. Two weeks later, Josh took the stage on “Pro/Am Night” at Absolute Comedy, Canada’s hottest comedy club. In front of a sold out crowd, the laughter was intoxicating, and he’s never looked back.

Less than a year after beginning his comedy career, he created “The Dark and Dirty Show”, a bi-monthly show that caters to a crowd that prefers its comedy with more of an edge. The show continues to be produced by Josh, and takes place at Absolute Comedy, in Ottawa, Ontario.

During 2009, while continuing to grow and hone his craft, he performed in cities including Ottawa, London, Montreal, and Toronto. His style is based on making fun of hot button issues, but he approaches the subjects as an innocent, well meaning fool, who often doesn’t understand the full scope of the matter, and thus ends up the butt of every joke.

In April 2010, he co-created “Open Mic Mondays”, again at Absolute Comedy. The show gives an opportunity to aspiring comedians, local amateurs, and seasoned veterans to take the stage, and try out new material in front of a more intimate, unbiased crowd.

Josh currently lives in Ottawa, and performs at clubs, universities, military bases, golf courses, legions, charity events, competitions, and just about anywhere with a microphone, spotlight and stage. In a time where cancer is rampant, debt is at an all time high, and reality tv is more popular than reading, Josh presents himself as the voice of an apathetic generation trying to find the light at the end of the tunnel. Most of all, he’s doing what he loves, and hopes you enjoy what he does too…

Comedian Geoff MacKay

As the dreary act of joining a bureaucratic workforce bound to a stranger’s bottom line occurred to Geoff in his early twenties, he realized that earning a reliable salary, casual fridays, and morning conversations about the weather were not for him. He began wandering on to stages and telling funny anecdotes in Ottawa, Canada as a means of avoiding the vapid work vortex.

His absurd observations about toasters, math textbooks, skydiving and social convention make him a fixture in the Canadian comedy landscape. He has performed across Canada, the UK, the Culturally Divided States of America, and China.

In 2014 he was the Winner of the Canadian Comedy Awards “Funniest Person in the Ottawa Valley” contest.

Geoff is now busy performing theatre, club, festival, and corporate shows across Canada and has recently performed at the Just For Laughs Festival (Toronto), CBC’s Laugh Out Loud, the Canadian Comedy Awards, Comic Vision, Cracking Up the Capital Festival, and the North by Northeast Music Festival.
